BAD THINGS

Bad Apple, Bad Egg, Bad Hat. Probably don't need to mention who this is in reference too. Bad Apple and Bad egg are very well known expressions for a disreputable person, but Bad Hat is less well known. "Bad Hat" is a 19th-century British slang term for a disreputable, untrustworthy, or troublemaking person. The phrase likely originated from Victorian-era insults, appearing in literature around 1831, before becoming a recognised idiom for a "bad egg" by the 1870s to describe individuals with poor character. In 1975, the "bad hat" reference was used in the movie, Jaws, and refers to a brief exchange between Chief Martin Brody and an elderly swimmer named Harry during the beach scene at Amity Island. The scene is most famous today for being the namesake of 'Bad Hat Harry' Productions, the film and television production company founded by director Bryan Singer in 1994.
